Wherever you teach your children, you're sure to accumulate clutter. Properly sorting and storing materials, and cleaning up your homeschooling area, allows for a more relaxed teaching environment. Nothing breaks the flow of a lesson faster than having to stop and find something. Whether you use ...
Homeschooling
When you decided to venture forth on this homeschooling journey, you probably didn't realize the roller coaster ride it would become. Some days all your best-laid plans will fail. Other days things will fall into place with little effort from you. Each day, each week-- yes, even each year-- will be different, but please know you are not alone!
I've been homeschooling for over 20 years. When I first started this exciting journey, I was blessed with a very strong local group, filled with moms at various stages of homeschooling. As I put more notches in my pencil case, I realized I had become a veteran homeschool mom. What? Me?! A veteran homeschooling mom? It certainly didn't seem possible. I still had so much to learn!
It was then that I realized I could be in the learning stages and still mentor other moms. The posts in this category cover much of the tips, suggestions, and advice that I have given to 'newbie' homeschool moms over the years. I've even had the honor of encouraging moms who have been homeschooling longer than I have-- that can be humbling!
I pray these articles will bless you, too.

The A to Z of Homeschooling Groups (part 2)
Previously we discussed A-F of homeschooling groups. Today we'll cover G-M. Good Communication Communication is important in any setting that involves humans. (That narrows it down, don't you think?) A homeschooling group is no exception. Leaders need to communicate with each other to keep ...
The A to Z of Homeschooling Groups (part 1)
Homeschool support groups play an important role in the life of a homeschooling family. Whether that group is online or in person, strictly for support or for co-op classes, there's a great deal that goes on behind the scenes. I wasn't aware of much of it until I helped form a new group a few years ...

C is for Confession: A to Z of Encouraging Homeschool Moms
I have always loved homeschooling. From exploring nature to learning ABC's to discussing the Civil War -- it's all been fun! But, I have a confession to make: I'm not a very good teacher. Does that surprise you? Did you think all homeschooling moms are natural-born teachers? Yes, I did, too. I ...
State Requirements: To Follow, or Not To Follow?
One of the most often heard phrases in the homeschool community is, "...to meet state requirements." It is usually prefaced with a question about transcripts ("Does my child need a foreign language...?") or testing ("Does my fifth grader need to take a test...?"). If you've interacted with me on ...
